Seafood @ Morib :: time to relax

This excursion took place last month and I had blogged it in my little phone. If I finally do publish it you are reading it now. Naturally.

Back in March there was a bike jamboree that kicked-off here and I accidentally forgot to pay one of the makcik's who works here for some services. I returned for the sole purpose of finding her, like a Jejak Kasih adventure thing, ya know, except we are not related and I owe her money.

Heading in the right direction, finally!

The roads to Morib are busy, narrow 2-way funky streets that screams for a new government, so it took us a while to reach our destination regardless of Mazlan's revving new car and sports tyres. As a result, we arrived at around 3:30 pm West Malaysia time and like any other homo sapien who's missed lunch because of bad traffic, we single-mindedly headed straight to the nearest nice-looking restaurant. It turned out to be the one at the very end, closest to the sea.

The angle isn't so good on this picture but we were just getting used to the camera then.
Ikan kerapu 3 rasa. A!

For my international readers (that accidentally came across this page through Uncle Google), in Malaysian seafood restaurants you get to hand-pick your fish and the restaurateurs will weigh it and charge you accordingly. We picked a Pari (the same fish species that killed Steve Urwin) for grilling and a Kerapu (innocent as far as I know) for a sweet-n-sour dish. Mazlan also ordered some fish satar: cone-shaped fish-meat wrapped in banana leaves and grilled to perfection. And it was good, so good he forgot to snap any pictures. Thanks hon.

Pari Bakar + air asam. A!

Our fish dishes arrived rather quickly and frankly, they exceeded my wildest expectations-- they were delicious! I could have just ratah the fish but my nasi goreng cili padi was not bad either. You'd think I am over-reacting and Morib food can't be that awesome. But honestly, food by the beach has never tasted so good! (don't read that last sentence out loud, it might come out sounding all wrong).

wth?

As I recall, it was a really nice and relaxing day. The sea was calm, the wind was good for kite-flying, and I was calm, which is a big A+ already in Mazlan's book. There were some really crazy-stunted-looking horses for sale all over the beach too --which to this very day I have no idea what they are good for.

After lunch, we managed to track down the makcik, or at least her office, and since she wasn't there at her stall looking nice and pretty as I remembered her, I left the money with what I hoped was a trustworthy colleague. Before leaving, we stopped by for some fresh coconut juice and then left the wonderful little beach just the way we found it. All nice and squeeky clean.

Fresh coconut juice. Skip the sugar and ice. Awesome.

Love your country. Do not litter. Save our beaches. And the crazy little horses.
