Mazlan's kambing-saturated dish. |
I know you guys love buffets, so against all odds and all the rainy days this December I thought I'd stick this one in. This was a dinner buffet excursion at Pullman Putrajaya on 30th November 2013. And to sound crazy, Pullman is only 5 minutes drive away from MMU if you follow the road to Dengkil (take the Putrajaya exit right before Dengkil exit, and keep left all the way).
For a restaurant parked under a world class resort, the price was not bad at all: only RM60++ per pax. And to spare you the shocking finale, the '++' is RM15. Thank you to my personal banker and fellow diner for the awesome treat. May Allah reward you endlessly for your generosity.

Here's what was available that particular night. It was a TGIF night, by the way, which was why I was smiling so broadly in the picture. Not that work has never been so exciting in my life (it is, as usual), but I am done with undergraduate lecture, and now only have to deal with mature students who give me less--shall we say-- challenges. Hooray~~
sup ekor and dinner roll. |
There were:
1. 2 kinds of soups. The cream of tomato was delicious. Definitely the authentic British recipe that takes me back to all the freezing winters in the UK. Oh, how wonderful the humid summers in Malaysia are. (wayang~~). Mazlan said the sup ekor was good too. But then again, you can't go wrong with sup ekor, as long as the ekor is fresh.
Hobbit bread. A nice selection. |
2. A variety of bread, with butter on the side. One of the fried breads nearly knocked my teeth out because it was so hard. But the rest of the hobbit bread tasted ok. And with the tomato soup it was simply gorgeous.
3. A variety of cheeses: the cheese-lover squeals in delight.
Who moved my cheese!? |
Cheese-world wonderland. A! |
4. Indian food: nasi tomato, pakora dal and aubergine meatball curry. The indian-food lover squeals too.
Meatball curry. A! |
Nasi tomato. A++ |
5. Salad bar and condiment bar across it which includes french dressing and honey-mayo. The health-junkie sings her praises. I imagine that would be me.
The salad bar. A :) |
6. Salmon quiche (no!) and fish with wedges in cream sauce (awesome!). The food critic calmly smiles and say "Salmon don't go with eggs butch, what were you thinking?!"
7. White rice and lauk pauk melayu. No comment. We walked right pass those unknowingly. We already know how awesome local dishes are. That's where all the pent-up energy comes from when we sing Negaraku once a year at MMU's graduation ceremony. Or twice a year if we're sent to those motivation training camps against our will.
8. Medium-well roast kambing with gravy. Mazlan's aspirations on his kambing-breeding business just got renewed, and the conversation hits off on a new note. Now all we need is a male and female goat.
9. Authentic Italian Pizza with that thin crunchy pizza base. Molto delisiosso!! Sooo delicious.
Chocolate pudding with vanilla custard. Heaven.
10. And finally, young coconut juice and ice-cream with a selection of toppings. Also cakes, mousse, yogurt, pudding, fruit and some local kuih-muih (again, we skipped those). The chocolate puddin' with the vanilla custard was divine. I wouldn't mind if all we had was the choco puddin'. I love choc pudding. Love. Love.
The cutest apple pie. A++ |
Orange yogurt. A++++++ |
The restaurant was very cosy, exuding warmth and homeliness with white and red deco and plastic alphabets hung all over the ceiling that looked suspiciously like it had a secret message embedded in it somewhere ("stop eating"). The crowed was not bad; there was a big Malaysian family at the next table, some expats, some couples, and I particularly noticed a young couple who looked like pretend-millionaires. What was missing was some kids running around creating havoc. I think we can supply those next time we come around. The three musketeers will definitely bring more color (and noise) to this place.

For RM60++ the selection was appropriate, the food was delicious and the place was more than comfortable. Kids 12 and under go half price, kids under 3 eat for free. Kid at heart?--regular price. But as Mazlan likes to say it: it's payday so its okay..!
Buffet eating tip: Take a little at a time and waste not.
The restaurant at Pullman Putrajaya
Putrajaya (near PICC)
