Islamic Steakhouse: the new best old place in Bangi

Birthday girl with family.

Salam all, Ramadhan mubarak!

I know its Ramadhan and you'll feel like strangling me for this post, but I haven't written in so long I've been wasting energy doing other things -- and most of them just annoy my husband.

We went here last Friday night for Iman's 7th birthday; how time flies! The first time we met she was a chubby baby who peeked shyly at me from under her eyelashes. Now all we do is gossip and shop. Not to mention the serious discussions over where to sleep every night --next to Mama of course but will Mama leave her for Abah in the middle of the night? the biggest problem in her life to date. What bliss to be seven.

Islamic Steakhouse is definitely awesome. The sister restaurant to Islamic Kitchen, which I have reviewed some few hundred light years back, the cooks, the waiters, the cleaners are all legal, law-abiding, Malay men, so no hanky-panky where immigration is concerned, and no frustrating bilingual expressions necessary when ordering: they know exactly what you're talking about. The menu? All the best dishes from around the Western continent -- steak, soups, salads, fajitas, pizza etc. No nasi goreng cina, sushi or kimchi unfortunately, regardless of the writing on the enormous signboard out front (see below). And the atmosphere? definitely cheery, with popular nasyid on repeat, blarring over the speakers. If you're lucky, the dining experience comes complete with VIP diners at the next table, who gave me a nice smile for the camera, syukran. The decor too, was very nice: comfortable chairs and big sturdy tables, just nice for my more than averaged-sized very ganas family. Which yours will be too, if you come eat here often.

Here are the pictures people: everything was seriously very good and we had a fun 7th birthday celebration. I won't elaborate further as you're fasting and I have no desire to test your patience.

Watch out for the next good food review.
